Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy · Illinois

Deep Exploration.
Honest Expression.
A New Way of Listening.

Psychoanalytic therapy is an open-ended exploration of your inner life, oriented toward healing and growth. Rather than managing symptoms or following a structured program, it asks what the symptoms are communicating — attending carefully to language, memory, and the patterns that run through your life. As you follow your thoughts wherever they lead, we listen for what hasn't yet been heard.

Getting to the Root

Many therapeutic approaches focus on managing symptoms. Psychoanalytic therapy asks how they came to be and what they may be trying to express.

Unstructured by Design

The work takes the form of an honest, open exploration of your inner life. Each session is guided by what is on your mind — what feels present, pressing, or worth following.

Organic Change

People often find themselves surprised by what they discover. New desires emerge. Life starts to feel more coherent and more fully their own.

Who this is for

You may not be able to say exactly what is wrong. That is not unusual. Often what brings people to therapy is precisely something that resists articulation — a recurring difficulty, a persistent unease, a sense that the same thing keeps happening without quite knowing why.

These are not vague complaints. They are meaningful, and they point somewhere. Often it is precisely the things that are hardest to articulate that are most worth attending to. Psychoanalytic therapy begins there, in what has not yet been fully put into words.

It is a space for anyone who is curious to look more closely at their own experience.

My Approach

Psychoanalytic Therapy

I offer a space for deep self-exploration through radical self-expression, close listening, and a distinct form of inquiry.

You are invited to speak freely, following your thoughts wherever they lead. Together, we listen closely to what emerges: the unexpected word, the recurring theme, the moment of hesitation. The unconscious leaves traces. Following signs of its presence is where the work begins.

Central to this work is your history: we look to your past to understand your present, and in turn, to open up new possibilities in your future. Through an exploration of repetitions, links, memories, dreams, fleeting thoughts, and the therapy relationship itself, we work to uncover unconscious sources of your difficulties and thereby spark organic change.

Many people come to therapy thinking they need to be fixed. This work starts from a different premise: that there is simply more to discover.
