I am a psychotherapy intern and MA Candidate in Clinical Counseling and Psychotherapy at the Institute for Clinical Social Work. I practice under the clinical supervision of Jasmina Bourgeois, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. Supervision is a required part of the path to licensure and is standard practice.

Yes. I offer telehealth therapy to anyone in Illinois, as well as in-person sessions in Chicago. Telehealth sessions are held via secure video call; you can join from your home, office, or anywhere with a private connection.

I work with adolescents and adults, from age 14 onward.

Psychoanalysis has evolved enormously since Freud. Contemporary practice of psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic therapy draws on over a century of clinical understanding — object relations, self-psychology, attachment theory, relational and intersubjective approaches, and the work of thinkers like Jacques Lacan, whose rereading of Freud through language and philosophy opened up new ways of understanding how the unconscious shapes our experience. What remains across all of these is the core commitment: to bring what has been unspoken into words, to draw connections between things that had seemed unrelated, and to trust that symptoms can dissolve once their roots are spoken, linked, and experientially understood.

CBT is a structured, directive approach — it offers concrete skills and techniques for managing symptoms, and works primarily at the level of conscious thoughts and behaviors. Psychoanalytic therapy operates differently: it is non-directive, open-ended, and works with a theory of the unconscious — the idea that much of what drives our experience, our patterns, and our pain lies outside of awareness. Rather than offering tools and exercises, it aims to shed light on what has been driving your experience beneath the surface, and to find avenues of deeper exploration into the self, your authentic desires, and new possibilities in living.

I meet with clients one to five times per week. Frequency is something we decide together based on your needs, goals, and what's practical. More frequent sessions allow for deeper work and are a traditional feature of psychoanalytic practice.

The first session is an opportunity to begin. I'll invite you to share what's brought you here and what you're hoping for. There's no pressure to cover everything. It's also a chance to see how it feels to be in conversation with me and decide whether this is the right fit.

Yes. I accept Blue Cross Community Health Plans (Medicaid), Aetna Better Health (Medicaid), Aetna PPO, and Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO. Private pay is $200 per 55-minute session. A sliding scale is available for those with demonstrable financial need.

Yes, if you have Blue Cross Community Health Plans or Aetna Better Health of Illinois, your sessions are typically covered at no out-of-pocket cost to you. These are the two Medicaid plans I am currently in-network with through Depth Counseling. For more detail on how it works, see Does Medicaid Cover Therapy in Illinois?
